Programming builds progressively from accessible cabarets to full staged musicals. Each tier deepens relationships, develops skills, and creates increasingly ambitious performances.

Tier 1: Launch Format6–8 weeks

Revues & Cabarets

Our entry-level program brings residents and students together for cabaret-style performances. Each weekly session includes vocal warm-ups, song coaching, light staging, and social time between student volunteers and resident performers.

30–45 minute cabaret-style performance

Rehearsal Schedule

60–90 minutes weekly

Resident Roles

Solo performers, duet partners, ensemble singers, narrators, and emcees.

Student Roles

Vocal coaches, accompanists (if musically trained), choreography assistants, stage managers, and scene partners performing alongside residents.

Repertoire

Public domain standards, classic Broadway selections, and themed medleys from the Golden Age of Broadway, Hollywood Musicals, and the American Songbook. No licensing required for most selections performed in private residential settings.

Tier 2: Intermediate8–10 weeks

Themed Variety Shows

As relationships between student volunteers and residents deepen, programming expands into themed variety shows that incorporate spoken scenes, comic sketches, and simple choreography alongside musical numbers. These performances introduce residents to basic theatrical staging: entrances, exits, blocking, and simple set pieces.

60–90 minutes weekly, with added rehearsals in the final weeks

Resident Roles

All cabaret roles plus speaking parts, sketch performers, and choreographed ensemble numbers.

Student Roles

All cabaret roles plus assistant directors, props coordinators, and costume assistants.

Repertoire

Themed collections mixing music, spoken word, and light comedy. Themes might include decades tributes, holiday celebrations, or storytelling revues.

Tier 3: Flagship12–16 weeks

MTI Senior Musicals

Our flagship program uses the Music Theatre International Senior Collection—a curated library of 60-minute adaptations of beloved musicals specifically designed for older adult performers. Titles include adaptations of well-known shows with simplified staging, adjusted vocal ranges, and accommodations for seated performers.

Rehearsal Schedule

Two to three sessions per week in the final month, weekly before that

Resident Roles

Lead and supporting roles, featured ensemble, chorus members—all adapted to individual comfort and ability levels.

Student Roles

Assistant director, music director assistant, props coordinator, costume assistant, tech crew, and featured ensemble roles alongside residents.

Repertoire

Licensed titles from the MTI Senior Collection, featuring professional-quality materials purpose-built for this population.

Designed for Every Ability

All programming includes adaptive accommodations so every resident can participate fully and with dignity.

Seated Performance

Options for residents with mobility limitations to perform from chairs or wheelchairs without compromising their role.

Large-Print Materials

All lyric sheets, scripts, and cue cards are available in large-print format for easy reading.

Simplified Choreography

Movement emphasizes upper-body expression so every performer can participate fully.

Hearing Accessibility

Amplification systems and hearing-loop compatibility built into every performance setup.

Flexible Casting

Residents participate at their comfort level—from featured soloist to seated chorus member. Every role matters.

Each 90-minute weekly session follows a structured format that balances artistry, connection, and care.

Rehearsal: song coaching, staging, scene work, and run-throughs
